Hatch Lock Question
Question on the rear hatch lock on the 86 and newer style. I bought the new lock set and got the correct hatch lock for my car (1990), however there's one snag. They send you the correct lock housing, but they also send you the one for the earlier style hatch lock and the earlier style is the one with the tumblers/pins/whatever you call them already installed. So you have to transfer those over to the newer style hatch lock.
Are there any instructions on how to do this? Or has anyone done it who can chime in? I really only need help with one step, I took apart one of the old lock cylinders just to see how hard it would be, and it looks pretty easy except for one thing, removing the small brass plate that holds the pins and tiny springs in place. I can't see how to take that out. I ripped it out of my old lock just to see what was behind it and still can't see how its supposed to come out. If they gave an extra one with the new lock set I'd rip that one out too but they don't so I'll have to be careful and get it out in one piece!
