WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

I have an '84 Z28. In both doors there is a vertical channel (towards the front of the car) that guides the window up and down. The outside is metal and there is a rubber insert to cushion it against the glass. The rubber is dryrotted and I would like to replace it.

2 questions.....

1. What is that called? Is it weather stripping?

2. Where can I get some or is there a good replacement I can use instead?

Re: WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

I have seen that in either the Classic industries or Year One catalogs or both. I loaned mine to my brother so I cannot look it up. Maybe try 1Aauto.com as well.
I don't even recall what they named it but you should be able to find it in the body/weather stripping sections.

Re: WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

Not in A1 Auto or Classic Industries. I'll check Year One. Mabye it isn't under weather stripping. It acts more as a window guide.

Re: WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

It is not the triangle seal. This is INSIDE the door. You must remove the door panel to even see it. The triangle seal is above the piece I am refering to.

Re: WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

Starting checking around at 1a and hawks in the door assembly categories. You'll most likely find it there

Re: WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

Year One:#1 All 1982, some 1983-1984 models with separate glass run channel door glass filler panel, driver side, GM.
#2 1982-1992 door glass rubber filler seal, aftermarket.

These both sound like they could be it, but no pics.

Re: WEATHER STRIPPING QUESTION

The nice thing about Classic industries is you can see the part in their printed catalog, but, when you use their part number, or even search their site, its says "Not Found"!
They like to tease or something!
