Aftermarket Bumper Replacement

Suprisingly, there isn't much about aftermarket bumper replacement on this site. At least acording to the search button... I have some pretty good wear/bumping/who knows what cracks on the rear of my bumper. The thing has been stressed to the point that it has split apart in several different spots around the driver and passenger corners near the brake lights. I havnt looked much but I did come across this website, www.bumperwholesale.com
They have the front and rear bumpers for our cars, however i wanted to verify the site first. Anyone every bought from this site before? How was it? If you havn't bought form this website but have had good experiances with other sites for bumper replacements, do tell.

Re: Aftermarket Bumper Replacement

haha I was just about to post that link and ask nearly the same things. If you don't mind me adding on here, I'd like to know if since I have a pre '90 hood, should I get a pre '90 bumper cover, and if it'll work. I was gonna go with the cheapest they had on there...

Re: Aftermarket Bumper Replacement

Wow! That's cheap! I bought mine 2+ years ago, from Hawks - it was $400 for the front nose cone for my 1992. But it was a genuine NEW GM part though. Not sure if there were any others available back then - all I could find was Hawks, and my choices were used at around $200, or the one single last new one they had at $400 - hated to take a chance on used, and my painter was in a hurry, so I sprang for the new one.

For those prices, I'd be very tempted to try it - worst case scenerio is that it's not good, you have a return hassle, and end up doing a chargeback dispute with your credit card company to get your money back.

Re: Aftermarket Bumper Replacement

I do know that they are making Repro Parts for our cars as far as body wise, In the latest catalogs for classic industries they carry full ground effect kits, Front/rear bumpers, and ground FX's for the doors and sides for like 1000-1500$? and they also sell individual pieces also

Re: Aftermarket Bumper Replacement

birdtojag on here does have a keystone aftermarket front cover ('85-'90 T/A) and his seems to fit really well. I will probably be doing the same thing for my '85 T/A when it comes time for paint.

I dont see why they wouldn't be. The GFX kit is the same.

I have to wait until it warms up outside and im going to order them and get them here. Ill review them and take lots of pictures and let you guys know. Like camaronewbie said, for the price its really worth trying. I am going to be spending alot of time on the car getting it preped and what not, id rather have new bumpers and not chance old parts.

Be the first to try one of these!

It's a fiberglass piece from american sports car designs. I have been thinking about buying one but was unsure on how well they fit

Re: Aftermarket Bumper Replacement

there ARE aftermarket front bumper covers available BUT none of the mfgrs bothered to get a license from GM to produce them ( china) therefore they are somewhat thicker ,arent just right in regards to the way they mount, look off when installed ect.youre better off buying a good used one ,really
