High Beams

I got a quick question about my high beams. Basically they don't work. All my other lights (except trunk light) work. When i pull the cluster stick thing for most usual working things on the car (turn signal, windshield wipers, cruise etc., nothing happens. If i'm not mistaken it's supposed to click for the lights to stay on. Pull a little to flash them, pull all the way and they will click on. The stick won't even click. I'm not sure how to check the voltage but i do have a multimeter. I'm hoping I won't have to buy a new cluster stick.

So i'm asking how to check the voltage of the high beams to see if they even still work

Re: High Beams

I am guessing that you need to adjust the high beam switch. It's located near the base of the steering column. All the stick does is push a metal rod that hits the switch. Easiest way is to take off the lower dash plastics and move the high/low beam stick and watch for a metal rod moving and follow that to the switch. It screws to the column and has slotted holes for the screws, so you can just loosen and adjust. If no metal rod is moving something is messed up higher.

I couldn't find that metal rod you were talking about. What do you think I should do now?

Look for this switch on the steering column.

Re: High Beams

You should see the rod moving up/down the steering column with the bottom kick panel off, a flashlight in your mouth, and a major cramp in your neck - move the high beam lever while looking up under there. There's two tiny (7mm or 8mm) screws that hold it in place - lossen those just a bit, adjust the switch upwards. Make sure if you have tilt wheel the wheel is set where you normally drive. Retighten screws.
