having hard time staying on one task
having hard time staying on one task
i have several different things going on with my car all at once. My main task is getting it ready to paint but I also have the interior co,pletely out and have material to try recovering the door panels, i got new carpet and sound deadener to put down and want to see how that looks. i have a new B&M shifter waiting to go in the console and i have a new window motor for drivers door to put in. what happens is I start one thing then go to something else and don't get anything done. Does anyone else deal with this too? I know I am goiing to have to focus on one thing at a time but can't. Then i usually sit back and have another beer.

FWIW I like to trial fit everything I can before paint. Then take it all out.
It is more work, but no overspray and less surprises when it comes to final assembly. By then I want to get it out and enjoy all my hard work as soon as possible.
Of course I usually have parts from 2 or three cars that I put together. (thirds are so cheap to buy as parts cars)
Repop new parts are worse than original, in fit and function. At least thats been my experience...

why would you get overspray on your interior? that's what tape and paper are for. if you think you would over spray it do it last. i paint cars all the time with the interior in them and never overspray the interior.

O.K. part timer , advice from an OLD TIMER . i have been there , done that . make a list of tasks , then do them one at a time , do that task & only that task . when it is done , sign it off as completed . myself i have a list in my documents of stuff to do & when i do it , with the price & date . it helps me stay focused , (at my age i need to stay focused) . just what works for me . hope my advice helps , cheers . good luck .
