Strip Rubber Trans Am Spoiler

Hey Guys,

What's the best way to strip the paint from a factory rubber spoiler on my 87 TA without damaging (weakening) the rubber?

Thanks

My guess would be to add a flex additive or get a fiberglass one.

I want to remove the existing paint without damaging the spoiler. No funds to replace it at the moment.

Any ideas?

Why do you want to remove the paint? If you want to refinish it you can just scuff and repaint.

Hey Nick,

The paint is peeling and I wanted to strip it and keep it black. I guess I could can paint it black if needed.

I just got an 87 TA WS6 and trying to get it on the road this year as cheaply as possible.

I would use aircraft stripper. Should be safe to use on it. Test a small area on the underside of it first though. I have tried sanding these and found it to be very frustrating. Aircraft stripper does not damage perspex (What airline windows are made of.) so it should be safe. HTH.
