Seats are soaked!!!! Help, QUICK!

So the other day I went to move my Camaro in to the garage to put my brand new speakers in. After parking the car and getting back out I notice that not only are my pants soaked but my entire driver seat is as well (mostly the bottom, the back got knicked by the water). I have determined that the water is coming in from between the plastic of the t-top and the plastic of the a-pillar. So, the question is if there is any sort of sealant that I can put down so that they will stop leaking? I have tried the horrid peel and stick weather stripping (worked wonders on the hatch) but it's not cutting it on the t-tops. If you want I can take pictures tomorrow of where I located the stripping so that maybe it can be more easily determined whats wrong with it. I found a set of weather stripping (for the t-tops and the hatch) for around $190 and I just started working and at the moment cannot afford to put out that sort of cash. So are there any other ways to seal it for the time being?

Re: Seats are soaked!!!! Help, QUICK!

have a couple options.

New t-top seals (recommend hawks or something like that but it'll run ya about 250 but theyre probably better than the 190 ones)

Adjust the seals at the corners, but chances are that wont do much

Third option is sell your speakers and buy parts that will keep the inside of your car dry

3M Super Weatherstrip and Gasket Seal - available at any parts store. Clean surfaces really well, and apply where the T-top weatherstrip rubber meets the metal of car, all around the T-top, then let dry before putting top back in.

Works well - just did this to my 4th gen T-tops - the weatherstripping seal gets broken between the rubber strip and the car - this stops the water from running under the weatherstripping.

In a few days, try adjusting the T-tops tighter - under the A-pillar and B-pillar there are screws, loosen and pull the mounts (the holes for the T-top pins) downwards a tad, and retighten - then the T-top compresses the weatherstripping a tad more.

Re: Seats are soaked!!!! Help, QUICK!

For a quick and temporary fix get ya some 3 inch clear packing tape !
Tape over the body to t-top seams. Almost invisible and cost less than
$5 bucks.

Sure.....you can't take off the tops but u won't have wet seats!

I will make sure to try that. So, it turns out that the reason why it was leaking is that one of the pieces of the t-top bracket was broken and was letting water in. To fix it I took some peel and stick weatherstripping and packed it into where the plastic was (this will hold until another thirdgen pops up in the yard). However today when I was installing my headunit I found that my rear passenger floor was wet (it was front driver before)! I will head up to Autozone or O'reilly tomorrow so that I can pick up that tube of adhesive.

Do you have a direct link for the product?

What are the chances??? I was going to start cheap and work my way up. So first things first I need to buy that adhesive stuff and then I will go to weatherstripping. I found some at summit for about $200 and its the good metro soft seal stuff that alot of people like and its for both t-tops. My neighbor has this guy that is painting his El Camino who will show me how to install my weather stripping if this doesnt fix it. I think I will ask him about painting mine while I'm there too!

Not bad for $800 but I think you need a paint job just a little bit more than I do.

Went to Oreillys to buy the 3M seal that was said to be in stock online and they didnt have any in the store so I just bought this other stuff that is supposed to find the leaks and seal them. Let you know how it goes.
