electric rear hatch?
Anyone know how to manually open these, if there is a way. Mine isnt really working since I pulled the motor for a 305 to 355 swap...

It should still unlatch with the key. It just won't raise up if you don't have power.

take a bat charger and hook up the neg to the neg of the motor then clap the positive onto the positive only long enough for the motor to come up so you can latch it..

Re: electric rear hatch?
Ok. does anyone know where the motor for the hatch grounds? I still cant get it open, my key wont work. Hooking a battery up temporarily doesn't work either, though the battery will operate the power locks windows and everything else. My only guess is that it may have grounded to the heads, can anyone confirm?

Re: electric rear hatch?
Turns out it was just cause it wasnt grounded right. Didnt have the motor in so there wasnt a ground to it. The second I hooked up the block grounds it worked awesome.

Re: electric rear hatch?
If it has power then it should do it if the switch is toggled correctly and the striker (?), little lever on the top of the unit where the latch is pressed inward. If it doesn't check for power and check that your power connector on the drive housing (multi pin connector) is clean and in there solid. Mine had issues from time time with the connector vibrating loose a zip tie or 2 fixed that issue.
If you want to manually do it I think you would have to take the housing apart. There is a worm drive that controls the latch movement. I imagine trying to force it while all together would get you a broken housing, afterall the housing is plastic.
