So I found some rust on my 82 T/A, is $ 400 a good price for the fix ?
Hey guys ! So I'm doing an engine swap on my 82 Trans Am,from Crossfire to SBC 350. So I was going to remove the Engine Harness,so I removed the Passenger Side Fender. Next thing you know, what do I see, a rust spot,a hole almost the size of my fist by the heater box. I couldn't believe it,because the car looks very clean. So I did some investigating and it looks like the car was hit on the side before, and who ever did the body work, did a crappy job and didn't seal it well by the fender/firewall,so I guess water was trapped there somehow. So I asked my body shop friend to give me an estimate, and he said it will cost about $ 400 as long as I remove the heater box and dashboard. What do you guys think -? I did a check all around the car, lifting up the rug on all corners, and there was no rust spots. But whomever did the job, did some crappy work, even painting the floor in gold. Here are some pics

well, that's a tough area to get to and probably your main problem would be that the whole dash would have to come out....then back in.
