Replacement door?
Replacement door?
I'm looking at a 91 GTA. The only thing wrong with it is the driver side door has a nasty dent and the spoiler is cracked. I have searched online for a good while now and have not found any third gen doors for less than $800+. I'm brand new to owning an F-body (I've loved them for a long time and now I'm finally buying one) so do you guys know of anywhere I can get body panels from?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Replacement door?
Also familiarize your self with the local salvage yards that might be in your area. You can use a door off any trird gen Camaro or Bird. The spoiler will probably be found at Hawks easiest.

Re: Replacement door?
All 82-92 doors are basically the same besides mounting holes for ground effects. If you want to have an EXACT door match that you won't have to drill or modify for the ground effects, you'd need one off a 1991-92 Trans Am, GTA, or W68 (sport appearance package) Firebird. Needless to say, you're a lot more likely to find one on a base model Firebird with the W68 package.
Nonetheless, any door off any 1982-92 Camaro or Firebird model will bolt up and function properly.
$800 sounds stupid ridiculous high to me...is that for an entire car? The Pull-a-part here has 5-10 third gen's in stock at any given time, and sells doors for $27.
I got lucky on my spoiler, found someone on eBay that had original factory takeoffs with minor finish defects. Got one in as-new condition with nicer paint than my car for around $150/shipped. If you're going to pay the price for new and keep the car outside, I would HIGHLY recommend a fiberglass replacement for obvious reasons.

Re: Replacement door?
Very good point. I forgot all about the ground effect mounting holes. I am glad you mentioned it so he has more complete info. And I agree totally that $800 seems outrageous. That is why the suggestion of a pull a part or regular salvage yard. I don't have a pull a part near me. Even with freight it is much cheaper than that at Thirdgenranch.

Re: Replacement door?
Pull a part here only has 3 4th gens (all V6s) no 3rd gens. I was just there last weekend. Keep in mind if you find a 4th gen there are some parts that can also still be used (seats, some of the consoles, LS1 type driveshafts, etc), your doors will of course be different.
