4th Gen washer bottle in a Firebird

Heres the set-up i put together a couple weekends ago:

Heres how it sits, you need to use small hose clamps on the top mounting holes and secure it to the X rods that are behind the radiator...

This is what i bought from Aubuchon hardware.... about $16

Heres the notch i made in the front nose support, and plastic splash guard removed from either side...

it was hard to judge where to cut the hole in the top sheet metal so i used a couple pieces of clear tape making an X right over the center of the washer bottle, then i slide the panel in under it and marked it

i then drilled a ring of holes around the mark alittle inside the circle (didnt have a metal hole saw) and afterwards i used a straight die grinder with a metal grinding stone around the inside edge until i could just fit the new "filler neck" threads though...

Then, to judge how long the piping needed to be (ended up being only a couple inches) so i stuck the panel on top and the neck through the hole and it stuck in there perfect, then i just marked what i didnt need...

Heres the finished result with a new coat of Satin black...

came out really well. been meaning to do something like this (along with the 4th gen battery tray overflow bottle), pictures definitely help show the extras us bird owners face versus the camaros

thanks Dan, i just found a different style filler neck for the washer bottle which is like a remote type with a hose that goes to the mouth of the bottle off a 2010 car (dont remember what make or model) which i might try out and re-do it so i have a flat support with nothing coming out like the cap i have on there now in which case the only things visable under the hood would be the engine, master and steering shaft.

Re: 4th Gen washer bottle in a Firebird

I think there needs to be a 3rd gen coolant reservoir mod for 4th gen's....I really hate that stupid tankless design with the flimsy plastic dipstick that feels like it's gonna break off in the reservoir and clog up the cooling system.

I know, OT, but not everything was a step forward in those cars.
