power hatch lock not working?
The power hatch on my 86 TA opens fine from the button on the dash, but when I put the door key in the rear lock, it doesn't turn very far. I assume it should turn about 1/4 turn to release the hatch. Not sure if it is not the right key, or just the lock is broken..
I pulled the inside panel off and can see where it is riveted, but do not see how to get the center section of the plastic between the tail lights off to get at it. I also am assuming that it is just an electrical switch (like on the dash) that needs a key to make the contacts.
Any info from those in the know would be appreciated.

Re: power hatch lock not working?
The key turns and pulls a short cable that goes to the same mechanism the solenoid pulls on. Assuming it's the right key it may just need lubing.

Try a shot of Lock-Ease before you do anything drastic. That said, I once had a door lock cylinder which was frozen and required replacement.

Re: power hatch lock not working?
lubing the lock has not helped. I can get a new power lock cylinder with key for $29, but I still cannot figure out how to get the center section between the taillights out to get to the lock and wiring!
