Putting an infant car seat in a 3rd Gen
We had a new addition to the family over the winter, but I wasn't gonna let that stop me from driving my "garage queen" '88 Trans Am during the summer. I did a lot of searching on here and found a few ideas, but I never found anything for an infant seat in a non-convertible car.
What I ended up doing was getting a lap belt from an older GM car. I removed the buckles in the back seat from the center hump, and bolted in the lap belt in their place. Then I put the infant seat on top of the hump so it would be in the center of the car, as well as allow the front seats to recline back to a normal seating position for the front passengers:

It works pretty well, although I did have a problem getting the belt tight enough. Normally, the car seat sits on the seat cushion, so u can squish the cushion down to get a good tight fit. But since the hump doesn't really have any give to it, I couldn't do that. What I ended up doing was squeezing the sides of the car seat together, tightening the belt, and then letting the sides press out against the belt to keep pressure on it. Also, pay attention to the angle of the seat to make sure u get it right. It has to be at the right angle to protect the baby, and u don't want the seat to be able to move to a position where the belt wouldn't be as tight.
I also discovered that the seat belts from my '07 Grand Prix daily driver are compatible w/ the TA belts. Which means that if u got a lap belt (and the additional buckles that come w/ it) from a car like that, not only will they match the look of the TA belts a lot better, but the multiple buckles attach to the same point. So u could have a kid in each of the rear seats and the infant seat in the middle, and still have seat belts for all of them! I also tried my wife's '03GP, and surprisingly those belts are NOT compatible.

You could put her in the front seat (facing backwards) assuming you dont have a passenger. No airbag to worry about. Nice job though on making her fit into the backseat! That looks like a tight fit but well worth it!

Yeah, but pretty much the only time I take the car out is when my wife and I go cruising on the weekends. Which means I need to have room for the wife, and that there won't be any1 at home to babysit! So I needed a way to get both of them in the car safely and comfortably.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
An error will kill you or your child.
It is imperative that you go to the website of the manufacturer of seat and follow those instructions to the letter.
also there may be a site on the net of the do's and donts of car seats for infants and juveniles. I just attended a continuing education class for my insurance certification. They pointed out common mistakes. There are classes you can attend that expalins use of car seats. It may be sponsored by your local motor vehicle department.
