I have what I believe to be a factory 91-92 Z/28 tall spoiler. There is NO third brake light in the spoiler. The spoiler has 6 mounting studs and a place for two mounting bolts to screw into the spoiler at the pointed ends of the outer ends of the spoiler.

A friend was over to the shop yesterday and saw my spoiler. He made a comment that there were 2 different tall GM spoilers. One for a coupe and one for a convertible. I have never heard that however I do not profess to be any kind of 3rd gen knowledgeable guy. I am restoring just one and that is a 91 Nevada B4C car.

Questions:

Was there a coupe and convertible unique tall GM 91-92 GM spoiler?

Is s o what is the difference?

Did any of the GM tall spoilers have a 3rd brake light installed?

I look forward to hearing answers to these questions!

im pretty sure the Z28 coupe only came with the tall spoiler without the third brake light and the convertible and rs bought the lip spoiler.

 

Coupes were the only ones to get them. 'Verts got a duckbill style spoiler with caps down the fenders to cover the badly chopped roof.

If 'verts had gotten the high rise spoiler, then Bluezee would've done a lot of work for nothing.

Only one kind of tall spoiler for the Z/28. No third brake light on those because the light was on the inside of the rear hatch glass at the top.

Interestingly though the early 1988 Sport Coupes had a short version of this wing that did have a third brake light installed. Maybe your friend was thinking of that.

I'm told the tall wing will bolt down on the '88 Sport Coupes hatch without having to drill new holes. (and vice versa of course)

 

I have the 88 shorty spoiler with the light. I actually like it better.

I also have the tall 91/92 spoiler in the shed. When I brought the tall one home, I thought I tried to see how would look and the I wanna say the holes were different.
