Cut open hood vents?

Ive been thinking of a way to get more air flow into the engine bay rather than getting an expensive hood. Just a really non expensive mod that anyone can do. Then i remembered seeing a picture on here of a few members with the Trans Am hood with the vents that cut out a bigger hole for them on the underside of the hood. I wouldnt mind doing this but my only concerns are, Wont that cause water to enter the engine bay if its raining? Or if youre just simply washing the car? Thanks for your help guys

This was done by gczj13. I was thinking something like this but a little more clean.

Re: Cut open hood vents?

you do you realize the core support is behind those vents when you close the hood and they will do about nothing cut like that?

Yeah i was thinking about that too. But in the photo it looks like he left the supports open to where they still function. I wasnt thinking of holes that large anyways it's just an idea

You can't see the core support in the picture, you're talking about the hood bracing. The core support is what holds the radiator in. The holes as they're cut are in front of the radiator, which does nothing.
