will 87 firebird roof fit on a 89

hi!

since it´s my first time here, a short introduction seems appropriate. name is andrej, i come from slovenia, europe and i need your help. i own a 77 malibu classic and an 83 cutlass supreme brougham. i love american cars and working on them is my hobby, soon to be part time business i hope.

my friend has an 89 firebird and he wants to get t-tops. he is planning to chop the old roof away and put a t-top one instead. we can only get a roof from an 87 at the moment, so im wondering if it will fit. those two model years look the same on the pictures, but we want to be 100% sure before he orders it from USA.

i will probably do an engine transplant on an 93 camaro soon, old 3.8 going in the can and rebuilt 350 going in, so you will probably be hearing a lot from me.

thanks!

thanks for the info! the cutlass is not in drivable condition at the moment, it was hit lightly in the front so it needs some body work. the original 305 seized up so the previous owner tossed it. i have a newish 350 roller block with vortec heads and a marine cam for it, should make a nice dd with some 330hp and buckets of torque below 4500rpm. i also have plans for th700r4. the car already has a 3.48 aftermarket posi unit in it. i would post pictures, but i dont know which thread i should put them in, i dont want to litter the forum

Yep. All 1982-1992 Camaros & Firebirds roof lines are identical, so it'll swap on just fine.

well, theres not really any good place to post pictures of it on here, this forum doesnt have an 'off topic' section like most of the forums im on, or at least as far as i know it doesnt, so its best to stick to pictures of the bird youre working on. good luck!

nonsense. this is your thread. if you want to post a picture or two of other projects, do it. you've already gotten the answer to your question so from This point on, the thread is dead (hey, I made a rhyme that time!)...no reason you can't post some pics and get a little more "use" out of it. it'd be different if it was some randumb person's thread but its not...Its yours.
