How do I fix this?
I have an issue with both doors on my 86 camaro.
On the driver side, the door will not actually latch when you close it. The door sits flush and dosent sag (first thirdgen ive had without sagging doors!), but never actually latches. So when your driving the door will just swing open!
The rod from the handle is connected inside the door, but it almost looks like there should be a spring under the mechanism. If someone knows what Im talking about, please chime in!
Also on the passenger door, the door will not open. I will latch, but the handles will not open the door. I have to roll the window down and use a rod to push the mechanism down to release the latch to open it.
I feel like Im stealing my car everytime I go drive it lol, any advice would be great.

Re: How do I fix this?
If it has t-tops, for the driver side check that the drip rail isn't getting caught, I had the same problem for a bit, I would think the door was shut all the way, then it swung out first corner I went around, had to start locking it, then noticed when shutting it from the outside the drip rail was getting in the way, so when shutting it from the outside I just pull it out of the way a tad, when shutting from the inside I roll the window down a little. Pass side you will probably have to take the inner panel off to figure out whats wrong with it and correct it. My pass side won't unlock from the outside with key, lol.

Sounds like you need a new latch mechanism...
