85-90 Rear Bumper Cover Identification - Need Help
Looking for some help from the Third Gen Community as the 1991 GM parts book I have, have not been a help in this particular case. GM parts book shows only two rear bumper covers from 1985-90, one for a base model car and another for the Z28, IROC and RS models.
GM listings:
85-87 - F (EXC Z28, ZK3 EXPORT, IROC--Z PKG B4Z) - PART # 5972941
85-86 - F ZK3 (EXPORT) - PART # 16503484
85-88 - F Z28, IROC - PART # 16503484
87-88 - F RS PKG (1A1) - PART # 16503484
88-90 - F - PART # 16503484
I assumed that base model rear bumper covers would be shaped completely different, maybe even without the "ground effect look", but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone know exactly what the differences are between the 5972941 and the 16503484? Is it only the emblem recess in the bumper? I have a rear bumper cover that seems to have an odd-shaped emblem recess that the Z28 and RS emblems will not fit in. The recess is slightly smaller and has no provision for the "Bow Tie" portion of the emblems. Any idea what emblem will fit in this recess?

Emblem Recess on 91-92 rear bumper cover. Note: Height and area recessed for the "Bow Tie" portion of the emblem.

Emblem on mystery rear bumper cover. Note that emblem recess is not quite as tall and does not provide for the "Bow Tie" portion of the emblem.
And last but not least, here are images of the various emblems.

The image below seems to be show a base model car, but even this emblem appears to have a similar shape and bumper appears to have a provision for the "Bow Tie" portion of the emblem, but hard to tell in picture. Are these emblems not as tall as Z28, RS and IROC emblems? Do bumpers not have provision for the "Bow Tie" on the base model cars?

And, below is an image of an IROC emblem on a bumper covers that also appears to have a provision for the "Bow Tie"

If anyone out there has a base model or other 85-90 Camaro that has a emblem recess exactly like my mystery bumper, please let me know. I am having a hard time ID'ing this rear bumper cover as a 5972941 beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Thanks for any help!

It's very quiet in here.
Anyone out there have a base model 1985-90 Camaro that can help me out with this? I know this is probably a pretty stupid question for those of you more experienced with third gens, but I just don't have a base model car around to look at. So, if anyone can help this newbie out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: 85-90 Rear Bumper Cover Identification - Need Help
Gentlemen. Thanks very much for the reply. I'm thinking the indentation for the emblem on the base model rear bumper cover may be the one in the lower picture that does not really have a notch for the Bow Tie, but I am not sure. Looking for anyone with a base model Camaro that can confirm my suspicions.
