I'm trying to replace the outer window sweep on my 84 Z28. YES I read the sticky on how to do this, plus watched the www.1aauto.com video. Problem is, my sweeps are held on with phillips screws, NOT a 7mm or 10mm headed bolt. For the life of my, I cannot get a screwdriver behind the glass. I removed the window guides to pull the glass back and even used a vice grip with a screwdriver head clamped in it and nothing fits between the glass!! Has anyone ever replaced this without taking the window out and have had PHILLIPS SCREWS holding their sweep in? Thanks.

 

do you have an offset philips head screwdriver?

If not, off to Sears with ya

 

The early doors seem to have been done right with the philips screws instead of the later hex-head screws... Should check to see if there is a down-stop on the window and remove it so the window will go further down into the door. Although I removed both of mine from the replacement doors (from an 83) with the guts out of the door and no glass installed...
