Another great day with my maro....

so i got back from indiana tonight, car ran great with no problems, plus! so i decide im going to put the new fender on it that came with the car. start taking off the old fender pull the new fender out of its box and it is dented EVERYWHERE! smh..... But i guess this might be a plus? more than likely not, but i really dont like the ground effects and would like to run without them, i know the front fenders are diff for cars with/without. Are the rockers and rear panels different as well?

Re: Another great day with my maro....

It depends on year and style of the vehicle. Being you have a 92 RS, there will be holes at the bottom of your quarter panels for the ground effects to attach to along with holes in the door and holes in the fenders. Just about all reproduction fenders/panels I have seen come without these holes drilled in them. So if you get a new fender from say, www.certifit.com, the only holes it will have is to mount the fender to the car and the hole for the side marker light. If your rear bumper is like my 84 Z, the bumper has the rear ground effect integrated in it, so it would look funny.

Short answer is if you go reproduction to replace, they won't have the holes. If you are using your existing panels, you'll have to fill those holes once the GFX are off.

Re: Another great day with my maro....

really the main reason i dont want the ground effects is because i scrape them when i pull out of damn near anywhere with a little slope, and i dont want to spend money on a nice paint job just to have it scraped off. and i really dont want to fill all the holes in on the rear quarters and the rockers.

If you scrape, then learn to drive the car without scraping! The side ground effects shouldn't scrape on anything. If it's just the front, go in and out of drives at an angle and the front end shouldn't scrape. Is the car lowered? if so, lift it back to original spec.
