The automatic 4-speed in those years was the 700-R4. It wasn't offered in 82.
The manual 4-speeds were the Saginaw and the T-10. They weren't offered in 84.

1983 was the introduction of the 700r4 and it was the only automatic available for all engines.
I'm not sure when the 4-speed manuals stopped. I know that the T-5 was introduced in 1983 on the V8 cars but, I'm not sure about the V6 manual cars.

Yeah I also know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOEVER about the 6-cyl cars, except that I don't want one... never even laid eyes on the workings of one, hope I never have to... no idea what trans they put in those.
GM did not have a 4-speed auto after the various old Olds & Pontiac ones in the early 60s that were replaced by the 400 in 65, and until the 700.
