1991 Z28 Hatch - Powered?
I have a 91 Z28 (just bought it). The console has a latch release button that does not work. Do these cars have the electric pull down motor and in some way is that related to the switch not working? The only way I can open the hatch is with the key, and when shutting there is no pull down.

Not sure why it shouldn't pull down, but there is a safety to prevent them from releasing with the car in motion. The switch in the console sends a ground from the park/neutral safety switch in the gear selector for automatics and through the park brake handle in 5-speed cars. If either of those grounds are not present, the hatch remote release will not work.

They were standard but its not that unusual for them not to work or for the motors to be removed all together, my current RS no longer even has the pull down motor but the button still releases the deck lid. Out of the other 4 i had only one still worked when i got it. Atleast you can still open the hatch trying to get them to open from the inside isnt all that fun
