87 TA power hatch

Ive been searching the forum and can't find my problem, I press the hatch release , hear the motor, it will open but I have I have to get to it quick or it will pull it back down. It closes just fine I'm just not that fast sometimes to get it open. Thanks

How are you hatch struts doing?

Mine did the exact same thing, I replaced the struts and it fixed that problem. It's actually pretty neat, because now it will actually open all the way on it's own after it releases.

I have this issue too but my hatch struts are not even a year old :s
I did slam it shut once (by accident of course)
maybe that did them in

It doesn't do that on my bird, even with brand new struts. It's that heavy *** rubber spoiler weighing it down.

Ya I only have the low rise spoiler on mine, doesn't way too much.

Its kind of cool, I have the rear hatched hooked to my alarm. So I can click the second button and it will open the hatch all the way. Its looks like I have some fancy electric open hatch. When really it's just really strong shocks.

this sounds like it makes sense.

I still have the rubber thing on there eh
I have the fibreglass one just lying around for when I paint the car so I'll let you guys how that affects the opening/closing of the hatch when it does go on.

but... I don't plan to paint the car for another four years so it'll be awhile until I update this
