So a teacher backed into my car today..

Coming home from school and just about to leave the parking lot when a teacher in her minivan backed up and ran directly into the side fender of my car. Here's pictures of the result.

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

She said that she's going to pay it all in cash if it doesn't end up being too expensive or she'll get her insurance to cover it. It's going to need a new fender and the guy said the bumber should be fixable but I doubt it will align propely. Funny thing about it though is that a tenant that lives on our property came up to look at it when I got it home and I told him what happened, and he asked me if it was a woman in a beige minivan that hit me and it turns out she's backed into him not too long ago too and hit a number of other things. I'm amazed that she still has her license

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

Had an Explorer truck back into my 91 Firebird recently. Adjuster determined it was over $3000.00 of damage. Insurance settled for $2500.00. Savalged her for $477.00 and fixing her up with the rest.

She probably offered to pay with cash because of past accidents. Usually if someone doesnt want to get the insurance company involved theres a reason behind it.

Shes not going to give you cash!!she'll probably turn it in to ins.co.I just got an estimate on mine a couple days ago and it's only for a right fender and bumper cover same as you need, but you need a hood and light also and you have a lot more damage that I have.Heres my estimate.

you never know bro, some teachers have money but hide it.

one of my teachers here in idaho owns a damn, and gets nearly 1 mill a week during summer... and STILL chooses to teach.. i know its weird but hey, atleast she likes it.

She still has a license because she pays everybody off & doesn't get insurance involved so they don't even know & raise or her rates or cancel her entirely.

I had ONE accident with the previous 6 years (at least) clear yet I got cancelled because of one wreck. And it raelly wasn't even my fault. The old man & wife changed their story (admitted fault to me) when the cop took his version of the story. 2 old in a "reasonable car" against 1 younger guy in a sports car.....No wonder I lost.

You could report it to your insurance & obviously they will pay unless she manages to make it your fault somehow, but then you risk your grades if she is one of your teachers or the other teachers take it out on you for getting her "in trouble". How many more years do you have in school? Crap shoot either way but how many more people will she run into later and will one not be so mild?

My ? I'd report it.

You know that fender (right side Firebird) is really hard to find. The TA fenders are real easy to get.

Oh wow, that's expensive and it's nothing compared to the damage of mine. The mechanic said that the bumper doesn't need replacing and should pop back into normal shape once the new fender is on but I very highly doubt it. Do you guys think it will go back to normal? The light and hood seems okay, the light is just restricted to go down because the bent fender is in the way.

That's what I was thinking. She visits the body shop so much because of her frequent amount of accidents that she has become good friends with the mechanics. Luckily she's a teacher I don't have and I'm on my last year and semester of highschool. I also highly doubt that she's going to put fault on me because she already admitted that it was all her fault thankfully.

The mechanic ordered a new one in and should be here in 2-3 days. I'm just hoping that it's got the same decal strip on the side or maybe he can just take it off the original. He also said that it's going to be a lot shinier compared to the rest of the car but I'll just try and age the paint or something.

or just that the paint is distracing to other drivers because its uneven, thus making there attention to the car and not the road, therefore creating a hazardous situation. An THUS she will have to pay to get the car painted a even color so that Noone will get injured- LOL jp man, atleast you getting it fixed

Lst year? Bust her *** as a Going Away Present & save any future people from getting hit by her before she does any worse damage than a simple fender dent.

Once you tell your Insurance Company about it & they investigate thde body shop records of her repairs? It is all over! LOL

Your hood looks like it got bent and that bumper!!!I don't think that's going to pop back, and under that bumper is a reinforcement bar that connects the bumper and fender together,I'll bet you it has to be replaced also.

I hope so to be honest, I've always wanted to get a new bumper. My friend also brought up that parts of the car has to be repainted to match the new replacement parts and that it's mandatory. Is this true?

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

He sort of mentioned it, if you look at the very first picture that I posted on this thread and from the edge of the bumper the the closest side of the license plate (passenger side) he said he was gonna repaint that section but nothing else and just said that the new fender is going to be shiny. I personally don't think it's unfair to leave the car looking mismatched.

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

I really doubt that their going to pay for a complete paint job,But the body and fender guy should and can blend it in with the rest of the car, that's if he's good enough.Check with him before you settle on a price.

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

Yep. You put fresh paint on a faded car & other areas have to be repainted as well to "fade"/blend the paint in to not make the new part stand out. That isd standard on any repair. Like....A simple hail ding on a hood can end up requiring a good 2'-3' area at minimum to be painted.

That a whole new fender can require half a hood, half a door & half the nose to be painted. No such thing as a "simple paint fix".

Do you know if the paint job would be under the expense of the woman who caused the damage?

Don't worry about it your not paying for it.And demand that it be done the right way.Like blackened said, they don't just paint the dings from a hail storm.

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

So here's a little update on the situation. I just made a claim as she wants to do it through insurance and found out that she stated that I was speeding which is untrue as I was going at most 30km/h which is normal parking lot speed. Does that damage look like the result of speeding if someone backed into you? so the woman on the phone said that it sounds like she's 100% at fault. I'm just hoping that they won't be bias towards the fact that I'm a young guy in a firebird.

I know, I'm so irritated right now. I totally expected her to somehow try and pin it on me someway or another too. Hopefully the other incidents she had were made through claims on her insurance so they can see how bad her insurance record is.

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

I really hope so. I've come up with some things that go against her now that I think about it. She said I was speeding but there's multiple rows of speed bumps in that parking lot and I wouldn't obviously be going over them anything over 30km/h, especially in a parking lot. The other thing is she offered right away to pay everything in cash to get it fixed which means she knows she's guilty. Last but not least she told me that she's never hit another vehicle before which turned out to be a lie because our family friend said that she's backed into his truck a while back. So at least I have some ammunition to use against her.

She probably thought she would give you a hundred bucks and you would forget about it. It's always the same story.

I'm gonna make sure that she doesn't get away with it. I made a full page of notes that contradicts her claim that I was speeding.

Wow, she's got some ***** saying that in the report. Never the less, sounds to me like you've got an open and shut case, even with her lying. Hopefully she gets hit hard with the bill!

Re: So a teacher backed into my car today..

When I was 20 I had a 16 yr old at a friends house back into my 98 Camaro twice. He backed into it, went forward, and backed into it again thinking he cut the wheel enough. He was pretty scared, thought I was about to kill him. My wife and everyone was telling me to relax lol. But because the new replacement part didn't match the paint, they repainted my whole car on his insurance's dime. Was pretty sweet. And they did a sick job on the paint.
