Fog Lights
Fog Lights
FYI, I was looking to replace both of my fog lights on my 92 Z-28. The dealer wanted almost $400 per light. I couldn't believe it. I was not able to find the lights anywhere until I happened to see them on ebay for $24.99 per set (two) sold by A & M Lighting Accessories. They have an ebay store. They are certainly not OEM (Made in China), but the lights came right away and there was very little I needed to do in order to get them to fit the existing brackets. Actually a few hits with the hammer to change the bracket angle was all I had to do. I don't know how long the link will last but if you are in need of replacement lights at a reasonable price, these would be it.

I found that link a few weeks ago but hadn't bought them because I asked him three times for a closer photo showing how they will fit - as he states they will - into the original brackets. Since the seller wouldn't reply after three requests, I've held off.
I'm Glad someone here has bought them. My car is 'fair weather' only driven so the Chinese construction isn't an issue. I was more concerned with an 'as close to stock as possible' look.
I'm going to request close up photos from you now if you wouldn't mind. Also, you said you hammered the original brackets. I have original brackets as well. Where do you recommend striking them? Thanks in advance!

Re: Fog Lights
The lights look as good as the originals. The original lights are held in by a pin screw. That comes out to get the light off the bracket. There is a backing plate and a large washer that comes with the new lights that allows the new lights, which have a threaded stud coming out the back, to bolt right into a hole on the existing bracket. If you look at the photo in the link you will see a picture of the front of the car with the lights removed. You can see a square hole in the bracket. That's where the stud slides through.
As far as bending the bracket, it is really intuitive once you look at it. If you don't bend the bracket, the lights will be aimed too high. I just put mine on the garage floor and slightly flattened out the 90 degree bend where the bracket bolts onto the car, so the lights would aim lower. There is no electrical plug like the original so you just have to cut the connectors and splice the two wires together.

Re: Fog Lights
You're welcome. It's too bad the Government Motors dealers want so much for the lights and gmpartsdirect doesn't even carry them. I guess that's their way of punishing us for not buying one of their new vehicles.

Re: Fog Lights
I got my new set in the mail today and am currently working on getting them installed. What did you do about the two brackets that the swivel bolt original went through?

Re: Fog Lights
Remove the two screws holding the bracket on, unplug the light, then take the swivel bolt out to remove the light. The bracket is kind of Z-shaped. You will have to bend the part of the bracket that bolts onto the car or the new lights will be aiming too high. The new lights come with two pieces--a big washer and an L-shaped bracket. Just run the thread on the back of the light through the hole on the existing bracket and use the L-shaped bracket and washer as a backing plate to bolt it on to the new bracket.

Back to the original topic: emeryz28, I got the lights installed into the brackets as you suggested. Thanks! I don't know about the alignment yet because I'm waiting to receive the 4 mounting screws for the brackets. I'll post photos for everyone when I am done.

Re: Fog Lights
I bought my fog lights through ebay also for $70.58 free shipping. They are to oem specifications and fit exact, But there is a problem. When i toke off my brackets to change the fog lights the holes where the long bolt goes though broke..... so now i'm in the need for a set of fog light brackets. Does anyone know where I can buy them. I already tried the dealer, and they can't get them anymore. so i crossed referenced the part number and no one can seem to find them..........

Re: Fog Lights
In addition to the lights the OP and I mentioned/bought/installed, the same eBay seller also now has a similar but different style for sale. The lens has a bit of an angle on them which I think is similar to the original equipment? At under 35 bucks shipped, it's a good alternative to the NOS prices (provided you aren't planning on having your car point judged).

Re: Fog Lights
eBay is definetly the best place to buy. I bought mine from eBay along with the switch and wiring for my 92 RS.
