87 IROC DOOR HINGES SHOT.

The drivers door sags and is ruining the rocker panel below the door. I just replaced the lower pin and its a little better. But, now I can clearly see that the upper hinge is what is shot. I know you can buy a kit at the dealer to replace the door hinge (may or may not need to be welded to the door, not sure what the kit has). Anyways, is there a way to fix the upper hinge, IE use some type of bushing to close the gap up? Some little trick?
Thank you for any responses.

My body guy just replaced mine, had to replace the whole hinge, which yes, has to be welded and the original is as well. Apparently it is the complete hinge, everything you need to install except welds of course.

I asked this question before & also went to chevy to get the answer. They said the whole hinge has to be replaced & welded on. They told me that they would do it for me for around $125 a door, and that includes the hinge, the work to put it on & weld it, and to paint it to match the car. So Im looking at $250 for both doors. I just painted my 86 camaro and my new paint job was scraping on the rocker panels so I had to take off my door extensions part of the gfx to reduce scraping until I get my doors fixed.

You know what they say. Injection is great...but Id rather be blown!

I went to my dealership and got the hinge kit direct from Chevy and it bolts in. The original hinge was tac welded in, but to remove it you drill out the welds, then bolt the new hinge in the holes you previously drilled out. It worked okay, except getting centered on the weld to drill it out, and I reccomend useing titanium nitride coated bits for the drilling. Should only need one of these, as for high speed bits you may need a few along with a lot of lubricant to lube the bit. If I remember correctly the upper hinge was about sixty dollars.
