body question shock area

Axle/Gears: 3.23 posi rear disk
body question shock area
guys i removed the rear axle and gas tank to clean/ paint etc. when i was taking out the rear i noticed that the area where the shock stud goes through the under-body both sides are broken out.. like 1-1/2 to 2" holes.. whats the idea for repairing this area?

the common fix is to weld in a large washer with the correct ID

WOW Looks like the entire shock went through. That should have a panel put in.
