Hood Fits Poorly
Hood Fits Poorly
I posted this a few months ago but got no response. I'm gonna try again.
On my 84 Z28, the seam between the hood and fenders gets really tight as it gets closer to the windshield. All of the panels of the car are straight so I don't think the car has been hit. My dad thinks that the hood has de-arched (side to side) over time, thus making the hood wider at the rear. Does anyone know of a similar situation? Any suggestions on how I might be able to pull a little more arch back into the hood?

Red 84 Z28 HO, stock L82 350, L69 carb, intake, and air cleaner.
5 Spd, 3:73 Posi, 1 5/8" SLP headers, 3"cat connected to
stock L69 exhaust, KYB's, homemade SFC's,STB and wonderbar
Some are faster but mine's fast enough.

If you are sure your car hasn't been wacked, see if there is a larger gap at the other side. If not....this is what I suspect. Somebody recently or not, may have tried to lift the car by placing the lift device where the fender meets the subframe. Take a look right in front of the doors underneath. You should see what I'm talking about. If it was lifted from this spot, the fenders will move up along with the car and buckle.
If this was the case you can try and "bend" them back but be careful.
