Buying car on east coast, how bad are the roads?(chassis damage)>>
I already have one '91 T/A, and am looking to buy another. The only cars I've found are all on the East Coast. One's in Pennsylvania, one in Virginia, and one in Maryland, one in NY, one in Florida. The body of our cars gets chewed up if the roads suck. How bad are the roads in those states compared to Atlanta or the Bay Area of CA. Also, for a 91 or 92, is it likely the car has any rust if its been driven during the winter.
Thanks, Dave '91 T/A
P.S. If anybody lives around those areas, and could look at any of the cars for me, please let me know.

Pa a roads are fairly well maintained.. it just depends where you are exactly getting that car... tell me the city I'll see if I can approximate the how the roads would be.. Florida, I was there once, and EVERY road was a dream.

Yeah.. I used to b--ch until I went on my first road trip out of state, and he's not overstating by using the word "dream". I love the roads here, just could use some more curves and hills. And no snow, so no salt. I believe the best area to buy cars from is in the midwest.

It depends which part of PA. Right around the suburbs of Pittsburgh, is pothole hell. It's like an obstacle course to try to keep your car from being swallowed..but once your in the city limits, you're cool....

Well, I haven't been able to get a hold of the Pa. seller yet, but his/her area code is 814. Florida cars are more convenient since I could take a nice vacation as well when checking out the car, but all the cars advertised are from dealers. If they are as f'ed as the car I looked at in Cali that was supposedly cherry, I'll pass.
Keep the roads on other states coming.
Thanks, Dave

Just because it's an east coast car, don't assume it's been chewed up. I love third gens but they are terrible in snow. Lots of people up here buy them for summer use only, and keep a "beater" for winter use while storing the third-gen. It used to be true that the best place to buy a motorcyle was up north. Now I think that truth extends to sports- and muscle-cars as well. You just have to check the car out individually unfortunately, it's pretty easy to tell which ones have had hard winter use and which ones were pampered.

814 is state college.. I currently reside there.. Most of the roads around here are fairly well done.. I wouldn't worry about a state college car.. I was looking at them here too before I got my car for a steal of a price
