IROC-Z Mud Flaps

Time to get the Z back to up and running. In doing some maintenance, I had to remove one of the mud flaps, which are all faded. Are these still available?

I like the look of non-mud flap cars, but for some reason, I also like these. Just curious if you can still get them.

Re: IROC-Z Mud Flaps

Those are long gone. There was a set on eBay recently with an asking price of $125. People are aware that these are in demand so the asking prices for a piece of plastic with a screen printed logo has gotten ridiculous. Rear window louvers have been on eBay for a month now for $999. Just a little obnoxious if you ask me.

Re: IROC-Z Mud Flaps

WOW, really?!!! That's outrageous. I like the flaps because they were on my car and they kept the car protected but if they weren't on my car, not sure if I'd care for them. So I was torn to see if I should replace these.

But if the info you say is correct......then looks like they are coming off!! Bye-bye flaps!

Re: IROC-Z Mud Flaps

I never knew mudflaps came with any Camaro.

And yes, it seems special factory accessories for these cars are now rare collectibles for some reason.

Mudflaps didn't come with the Camaro. They were an over the counter accessory that GM had available. My car is still sporting the original set that was purchased when the car was new.

Re: IROC-Z Mud Flaps

Do what I did, I took a pair of flaps that fit properly and I didn't want them to be noticable when I put them on my newly painted car back in 1994. I went to Home Depot bought some plexiglass and cutter for plexiglass and made my own. They are not noticable and they are cheap enough when you buy the plexiglass in larger chunks. After cutting them out sand the edges with a belt sander or bench grinder to take off the sharp edges and round out the corners. I wasn't crazy about the having black mud flaps on my car but these lend themselves to a lot stone chips given the way the body and fenders curve in to leave them exposed to be chipped up. Keep the original flap as a master for future replacements when needed.

Plexiglass attached to the bottom of the rear bumper? Sounds ingenious and efficient, but how did it look?

plexiglass is an idea BUT it is brittle, you know whats even better if you go to a hobby shop and buy a sheet of lexan thats used for RC car bodies, and make the flaps out of that. Its available in various thickneses it can be cut with scissors its durable and it wont be noticed because its thin, no screws needed either just use some 3m tape.
