aero wing restore

aero wing restore

Is there a way to refinish these. I know that the finish cracks because the metal rusts and expands the urathane(forgot how to spell).if the rust is gone, but the rubber is good, can these be refinished at all, I am in canada, and the replacement is going to cost a hell of alot more than i can spend on it, any one have any ideas????

if you're talking about the pre-91 style, forget it. It's like trying to polish a turd. You can HAVE the one off my GTA if you want it this summer.

Even ho it's a pian,, you can fix these wings (the time involved makes it not worth it to alot,,,even me) but 3M makes a plastic "bondo" that is used mainly for the repair of fascias(sp?)(urethane bumpers) that you can apply over the cracks in your wing,, lots of time w/sanding this plastic "bondo" (if the cracks are really bad)and you can restore your wing. The shape mine was in was not worth the effort but, if you only have a few minor cracks,, it might be worth looking into. The good thing abvout this 3M product is it's plastic & it will expand & contract similar to what your wing is made from (tho it's not a perfect product). minor repairs/blemishes using this it worth it,, major problems,, forget it, Like Jim said,, you can't polish a turd.

Thanks for the offer Jim, I may take you up on that. It probably would not have been necessary to repair it, but the winter storm we just had here pummeled my car with ice. I will look at this thing a little closer, Ill get back to you on your message board about your wing Jim.
