cowl induction hood?????
I'm lookin for a new hood for my '82 firebird and I want to find a steel cowl induction hood, or even possibly just the cowl scoop i can mount to my hood (steel).. anyone know of any places I should look? I dont wanna pay like 400 something for an ASCD fiberglass hood... its not worth half that, damn.....
Firebirds came with a teardrop cowl, you could go that route. I'm not sure if it was factory or not, but a friend of mine and an 83 with a functional teardrop. Looked like it was factory though, had the air cleaner to cowl seal with some sort of sensor that opened and closed a valve inside the cowl.
Godmark makes steel cowl hoods for camaro's but not firebirds, haven't heard of anyone else makin them. I asked goodmark and they said it costs almost $400,000 to design and create the the dies and everything to make the hood, so they have to sell 1000 just to break even. Basicly he won't be designing many new hoods, maybe 1 or 2 a year.
