Please explain to me how to use the clay bar.

Okay There seems to be some stuff sticking to my paint, and I was wondering how to use the clay bar, Do I need to was polish it when I am done or will wax work? Do I do the whole car or just spots? does it take out straches? And what kind is the best? can you damage the paint? thanks My car is black

Are you using the spray. There should be a spray that comes with the bar to keep it lubed up when using.

I've used Mother's clay bar and it worked great. A spray and instructions should come with it, but I'll explain briefly. First, the car must be washed. Once it is clean, you can start using the bar. You spray a small area about 1 ft^2 and rub the clay bar gently back and forth until you no longer hear it pulling up particles and smoothing the surface. When it is smooth to your satisfaction, wipe off the excess spray and move to the next spot. When you finish the car, you can wax it and then enjoy the shine. You'll be pleased with the results if you take your time and do it properly.
