Replacing dash lights

Ok, I'm pretty sure I can get back there, but I keep reading about soldered bulbs or something. I have a 194 bulb from when I replaced the bulb in my side marker, will that fit or do I need some bulb that can be soldered in? Also, how do I get the soldered bulbs out? Thanks.

i dont think that the bulbs in the dash are soldered in. but i could be wrong. i think they just go in like normal bulbs, but it has been a long time since i replaced any in my dash.

Mine weren't soldered. I simply wiggled the old bulb from the socket and wiggled the new one in. Removal of the cluster and replacement of the bulbs took less than an hour.

they are not soldered in. It is also a good idea when you have cluster out to take a pencil eraser and clean all the copper contacts under each bulb and where it plugs back to the dash.

I think it depends upon the year to see if it was soldered in. On my 91 they were. But since they were in the small gray things that twist out (sorry bad description ) it took those out and used pliers and a small screwdriver to wiggle the bonds loose. Any more questions drop me an e-mail.

I would assume your '92 has the type of bulbs that are soldered into the socket. I have a '91, and they are that way. You can replace them using that same type bulb, break the solder and replace the bulb itself, or you can also buy the individual sockets and put whatever bulbs you want in there. The socket is available at AutoZone for about $1.79, p/n is 85835...
