Water Leak above the rear seats. Where is it coming from?

Hey guys.

I have an 86 Transam w/ T-tops. I've replaced the weatherstripping for the rear hatch and the T-tops. It's leaking water above the panel right above the rear seats. You can even tell the headliner is a little stained. anyone ever have this problem? Where is it leaking water?

It's leaking underneath the black metal bar that is between the two t-tops. It runs through the channel between the tops right to the back, then runs through the plastic rail near the hatch, and drips onto 1 seat or the other. If you parked with the car facing down, it would come out near the dome light or through the swivel light in the overhead console. It's a pain in the *** . I sealed my tops as good as possible and it still leaks. The only solution is to pull the gaskets out, pull the black piece back up, and silicone around the holes in the roof panel. If the gaskets are original or if you cemented them in, you're going to ruin them when you pull them out. Like I said, it's a pain in the *** .

In my car, it leaks where the hatch back hinges bolt to the body of the car.

Everybody is mentioning very common leak-points, but the only two that would cause it to drip from the plastic panel he mentioned is the style leak that I have or leaking through the hatch hinge bolts like Justin mentioned. I thought it was leaking through my hatch hinge bolts at first, so I took them off 1 by 1 and siliconed them, and put them back on. I was very miffed when my back seat continued to get wet. I'm going to have to fix this problem before I put my leather seats in!

My bet is on where the hatch bolts to the car. I had the same problem and I just loosened them up a little bit and put some rtv in and my car is dry as a bone.
