Wish I'd have known this before!!

I went and ordered a grille for a 92 Z28 the other day and picked it up yesterday. Today I took the old grille off and TRIED to put the new one on today. Guess what? It won't fit. Damn it, I spent $67 and cut the screw holders off my front end and the damn thing won't fit! I measured them and the grille off mine is a full inch shorter than the 92's. This really sux. Any way to make it fit w/o cutting up the front bumper. I'm not gonna do that. I was under the assumption that I could swap out any 3rd gen Camaro grille and it would work. Guess not. This was gonna look so good too Can someone please make this work!!

Was it one of the "Bowtie" or "Camaro" or the "RS" style? I have a grill off an 89 iroc in my 91 Z28 and it fit perfectly. Some motherf*ucker stole my bowtie grill.

I thought you could tell just by looking that before 88 all the sport coupes had a smaller grille than the IROC's, Z's and RS's.

Its the bowtie grille. And I sure can tell now that it is smaller and I sure feel stupid after wasting $70 that I need for fixing my car that got wrecked the next day. Anyone want it?

Jason, id like it but unfortunately dont have 70 bucks. I just spent 5 plus shipping on a "camaro" grille...i like the bowtie ones better, but the camaro is certainly better then the ugly RS grille

Jason, I assume that you still have the original style nose on your car, and not an IROC/Z28/RS style nose with ground effects. If so, the grille won't fit. The noses are totally different. If you don't want to change to the gfx style, one option is to find an '85-'87 sport coupe grille with the driving lamp option, and add the lights. My Camaro came that way when I ordered it, and it is a lot better looking than the standard grille. BTW, the lights are the same as an IROC or Z28, but the mounting brackets are different. If you look at pics of my Camaro, you'll notice my lights sit deeper in the grille. This is because I used my original brackets.

Hope this helps.
