Special prep for fiberglass&console pad

I'm about to paint my 82 Firebird and this guy at the paint store told me about some prep for the fiberglass bumpers. I kinda blew him off "was in a hurry" what is this stuff called? is it nessasary? I painted my 85RS about 2 years ago with a no clearcoat paint like the stuff i just bought. anybody ever use this fiberglass stuff before? and my other question is the console pad is gone any ideas as to cost or availibility from dealer.
I looked at 3rdgen banner ad but they did not have the one i need and the junk yards are all tapped out. Thx guys

Maybe a flex agent ? You add it to paint to keep it from cracking as easily.
Adhesive promoter helps the paint to stick as well (bulldog is a good brand)

Btw,,the bumper covers (fascias) are made from urethane(just in case,,).

I doubt you'd want to buy a dash pad from the dealer unless you want a really light wallet afterwards,, they are $430+ from there (thats insurance/collition price too...)

You might try www.gmpartsdirect.com using p/n 10029478 ,, might be able to get a better deal there or www.parts.com,,, I think they sell used as well as new parts there.

Is it a dashpad or a console lid you need?
For console lids, check www.yearone.com They have them in their NextGen section.
If you need a dashpad, I've got one in mint condition. Just email me.

I gave you the # for a dash pad for some stupid reason (maybe it was the beer,,) Sorry about that
