Auto-dimming mirror w/nitrous

Seriously, since that other post about auto dimming mirrors it made me take notice of mine and it has the switches and dimming **** on it and a wire comming out the top of it so I messed around under the headliner and found the wire to hook it up with but then it started making a grinding sound like a running motor in it, continuously. Any idea how these things work or how to fix this thing?
Thanks

It's obvious. You want the mirror to dim when you hit the juice, right?
