questions on a cowl hood

Hello everyone! I have a 92 rs camaro, going to be doing some modyfying this winter and while I was at it I was wondering about cowl hoods, I was looking at a 3 in for my car, my main concern is how bad do they mess with the feild. Of vision, I don't want to buy a 500 dollar Hood and hate it because I can't see around it! Any advice would be great!!
