Bottom of door rotted

Car: 1988 Gta trans am
Engine: LR4 4.8
Transmission: 98-02 t56 6 speed
Axle/Gears: Bw 9 bolt (3.70’s) pbr rotors
Bottom of door rotted

Is there anyway to repair the bottom of the doors i was thinking of cutting the bottom half of the door out replacing the rotted metal would this way come out cheaper or should i just try to find rust free doors an use those an rubber undercoat the inside an por-15 them as well

I used patch panels to fix the bottoms of both of my doors. Think they were Sherman brand, bought them through Napa. I didn't think the metal was too thin, just have to take time when welding. After I had the bottoms on I used some fiberglass to seal up from the inside. I left the doors on when I did it, made it a little easier to line it all up before I tacked it on.

I also had to patch behind the mirror on the drivers side.

Ill get pics of it up when i get outta drill weekend with uncle sam i know the passenger side has rot holes the sizes of 25 cent quarters its the drivers side that is really bad can stick my whole hand up with it fully open hand
