i have an 86 z28, the origional hood is rusted, im told to get a fiberglass hood. is it worth the extra cash???? if so, where can i buy them for a decent price?

I'm not a big fan of fiberglass hoods. The fit and finish never seem to be up to par with a steel hood. (just my opinion, though it has been shared by others) If you just want a stock hood, I say, stay with steel. If you want something other than stock, your choices are greatly diminished by staying with steel, but Goodmark Industries ( www.goodmarkindustries.com ) makes a very nice functional steel cowl induction hood for the third gen Camaro.

hey bowtie, i went to the site an there was no options for third gen camaros, it stoppd at 2nd gens, is there another site?

 

I just went to the Goodmark site following the link in my original reply. Once at the Goodmark Homepage, I clicked of the Cowl Induction Hoods, (there is a picture of a GMC truck but all the hoods are there) then I scrolled down to "Cherolet Passenger Cars" and continued on down further to the Camaros (the listing for thirdgen incorrectly list "1982-82" if you find that click on it and t will show you a pic of the hood on a white thirdgen w/blue stripes.
Now I'm veiwing all this using WebTV (my ex got the computer and the WebTV service is free but that's another story all together) so it my appear differently on your monitor, but it is there. Also be forwarned these hoods are on the pricey side ($400+) but I feel worth it.

You mean an IROC hood? I don't know of anyone making aftermarket IROC hoods, then again I haven't spent much time looking either. If I get this '91 RS I'm looking at it will get the steel cowl hood from Goodmark.
