vinyl vs. tweed for my panels?

I am having my interior door panels and rear panels (convertible) recovered in black. I need to know which material will look the best, which material will hold up the best, and which material do you guys like best. Or is there another material that i should be considering for this?

I personally think that cloth is more comfortable than vinyl, gives you more design options, and will last just as long or longer if treated right. I've never seen black tweed though, so I can't comment on it in particular. Most tweed I've seen is in various shades of tan or grey. Go to your local automotive upholstery shop that specializes in Rods and Customs or tri-fives, and they'll probably have a large quantity of samples available for you to look at.

One final thought. It'll look funny if your door panels don't match your seats, so you'll probably need to choose your door panel material to match, or else recover your seats as well.

i'm gonna go with some new seats from a camaro (96 or newer). I think that with the tweed, which is just a plain pattern, one color, will go well with my seats.
