What's with the number 12?

I assume this diagram isn't for a 91-92 Camaro because #11 doen't have the side scoops. I have a 91 I bought used and don't have #12 (or #14 which I plan on getting for cooling help). Should I have #12? Is #12 part of a 91 Camaro?

Yes the diag is for 91-92 (it's from my site)even tho the pic doesn't show the scoops that are suposed to be ther (I don't know why). The panels you ask about in question (#12) are the valance panels,, they cover the place between #11 & the inner fenders,, on Trans Ams they are intergral as part of the fender gfx. Are you sure you are missing these pieces ?

Even tho this is my 84 sc,, the valance panels are in the same place no matter what year

Deadbird, thanks for the info, diagram, photo, and help.

I have the front ground effects (#11) off of my '91 Camaro for repair and painting. I'm quite sure I don't have pieces #12 or #14.

The car is a RS and the hood is from a Z28. Also the nose and one fender has obviously been painted at some point in the past. From this, I conclude the car had some minor front end damage and parts were scavenged from another red Camaro (Z28).

I believe that part #14 (air dam) is necessary to direct air flow up to the radiator and hope to get one before summer.

Does part #12 (valance panels) have any functional purpose? It would never normally be visable because of the ground effects (#11). Should I try to find a #12? Why is it there?

check to see if they are broken off, these are part of the air damn and they are easily busted off without being noticed, usually by the previous owner. My IROC had the same problem, so did my GTA, its a common problem i think

hope this helps in some way

Have a good weekend

You need 14 the under air deflector for proper cooloing. If you do not have it then you will overheat VERY quickly. The air scoops you are asking about are really not needed.
