Convert 1987 T/A into 1982-83?
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. I tried a quick search, but didn't really come up with any definitive answers.
I have some ideas in mind for an early (82-83) trans am project, but am having a hard time tracking down a solid rust free car where I live. I did however find a solid 1987 GTA minus engine/trans for a steal, and am curious if I can bolt on all the 82-83 stuff? Nose, fenders, hood, headlights, etc. I really want the look of the stock 82-83 cars in all respects, and am curious if this can be done relatively easily.
Planning an LS1 6-speed swap also, and am not sure what car may be a better starting point. Any help or input here is most appreciated. Thanks!

For me anyways, a real gta is more $ than an 82-84. Specaily if it is complete even if the drive train is upgeaded. My 2 cents...

Unfortunately for that car the original drivetrain is long gone, so I don't see much value left in it, unless you could find the missing components and put the car back to original. It will never bring the kind of $$ an unmolested car would. In my mind it's the perfect candidate for a restomod versus modifying an original.

Yes, all the earlier stuff will fit on it, the chassis is the same.
I believe the first thing you will need as you are building from a bare chassis is the kmember for ls conversion.

Plenty of people have converted later cars to 82 style (mostly for Knight Rider clones). Everything bolts up to a certain degree, but it's a LOT of work if you're going to do it right, as I don't think 82-84's share any interior pieces at all with the 85-92 cars. If you just want to do the body though, it shouldn't be that bad.

Thanks for the responses guys, much appreciated. Not overly concerned about the interior so much as the exterior stuff. Not going for a 'clone', but an early third gen T/A restomod with a twist
