paint dilemma

my father gave me his 1985 pontiac firebird but when he bought it from the previous owner way back the car had been repainted. from blue to red, since the cars is gonna be pushin about 30 years soon it has a few nicks and scratches that id look to fix by using those touch up paint kits. but the thing is thw owner never told him what paint color he used to repaint the car that or my dad simply forgot. is there anyway i could find the paint color cause im not sure if he used like a red that the stock firebirds had or what, i did go to an automotive sherwin williams paint and they pretty much told me that the couldnt really help me since it was repainted. do u guys have any tips in what i should do? here a picture of the car to show u what shade of red it is

Re: paint dilemma

Better paint supply stores can "scan" your car's color and come up with a mix for it. That's the best way....the second best way is to find a rack of touch up paint pens...buy a few of them that look "close" in the store...then try them out till you find a winner!

Re: paint dilemma

Yeah thanks for all the info but I found a shop where they can scan the paint and match it, now I just feel jipped because my dead lights were stuck open and I figured out it was the relays after I drive the car to the mechanics and there charging me 250 when it's a 20 dollar piece, it's off topic but I'm so mad that I gott pay them now
