92 formula wing on base bird
my buddy is looking to install a 91-92 formula wing on his base 92 bird. Does anyone know if the holes on the hatch from the base wing line up with the formula wing?

Re: 92 formula wing on base bird
They don't. Formula wing has 2 holes in the deck, 91-92 has 4, none line up, and the clips on the glass trim are different too.
Take a look at the inserts on the 91-92 wing as well. That part of the wing is plastic and the bolt inserts are often missing or loose. They will probably need to be glued back is place.
There was someone else looking for this info as well, I'm going to post a pics of the two hatches today now I can get out to them.

Oops, sorry, got mixed up in my wings. I think one hole on each side might match the regular straight wing,I'll check that out too. You will still be missing the clips on the glass trim.

I know for sure they don't line up completely, but I think one hole on each side does line up.
Sorry it's taking me so long, I really will go get some pics of the different mounting holes as soon as the frost melts!

The holes are different from wing to wing / hatch panel...
I would just switch the whole rear glass & hatch panel...
If you're trying to remove that Aero 92 Formula wing in 1 Piece, good luck... Plus the metal trim around the glass has additional metal tabs welded to it...
Save some time and just switch the hole glass & hatch...

Re: 92 formula wing on base bird
i learn something new everyday in my junkyard.
i knew they had different holes, but i was mistaken in my beleif that all hatch panels were the same , just with different holes in the deck. for example you can see on the black panel (86 TA w/ wrap) that it has the cutouts for the reg wing and wrap wing. i thought the red panel (91 formula) would have the same deal, but you can see this one has no cutouts for the straight wing mounting.
from rough measuring, it looks like the rear holes for the wrap wing would line up with the staright wing holes, but thats it.
Anytime you switch wings it will be easier with the whole hatch swap, hatch swapping is super easy.
also, have you removed the 91 wing from the deck yet? you may find it difficult to do without damaging the wing.
