rear hood seal removal
rear hood seal removal
I have boughten a 89 Camaro Rs recently and just found out about this website. It is an awesome website and all of you guys are cool as Hell. anyways, I have added the open air element to my 89 Rs and my engine is now overheating 2 much. Can anyone tell me what i can do to cool her back down? i have heard of this removal of the rear hood seal and was wondering if someone can tell me how to do this and show some pictures of it? any help would be very much appreciated

i never had that problem on my car with my cleaner and stock hood , but i am sure someone here will help you out. I often wondered why that seal was on there, i never put it back on when i got my cowl hood.

You could put in a 180* thermostat. 195* is stock. The rear hood seal is to prevent rain from getting in. I have a 383 with headers and open element air cleaner but the 180* stat keeps it under 200* as long as the car is moving. Just idling, it'll reach close to 220*, but never more.
