Broken Trunk
Broken Trunk
Hey, i've got a problem with the trunk latch in my 91 camaro. The automatic motor which normally pulls the trunk down started to unlatch the trunk whenever it wanted, so because i didnt feel like buying a new motor for the back, i had it disengaged and i've been using the latch just like any other trunk. Recently someone, who will no longer be getting rides from me, went to open the trunk before i unlocked it and apparently pulled the motor up. I can still lock the trunk, but it's in the up position where the motor would normally pull it down. Since it's disengaged and maybe not even working, i dont know how to get the trunk back down. Does anyone know a way i could bring the motor back down without replacing the whole thing. I also don't know how to reengage to motor, so if you could tell me how to do that, i'd really appreciate it.... well thanks in advance.
I do the same thing. The gear has been stripped and mine won't come up though. I would just plug the pull down motor in and close the trunk. When it closes pull the fuse and open the trunk with your key. Then just unhook the motor again. That is the simplest thing I can think of.
