I just got mine back from the shop and I was wondering if there was anyhting I could do to protect it from the imfamous 'over the rear seat roof leak'. I did the best I could to seal things up with silicone while I had the under side of the roof exposed, but I can't help but think the slower of the leaks will still be around, no $$$ for new t-top seals by the way and I don't think they're the problem. I was thinking of covering the top side of the liner itself with some thin clear plastic, bisqueen for example, so the water would be channeled to either side instead of just soaking in. Has anone tried this or anyhting else for that matter? Trying to make this one last...

I had that same leak on my 86' SC.My headliner was ruined to the point where i couldn't even get it recovered (too soggy).I eventually found a good one from a junked Iroc-z and had it recovered, but like you,i didn't want this one to suffer the same fate.I decided to back it with a thin layer of fiberglass mesh, not the tiger-hair type, but the stuff that looks like window screen.I cut it to shape and layed it down on the backside dry, then i brushed the resin on with a paintbrush. This stiffened her up real nice and it should be alot more durable too.Don't go too thick with the stuff though, you might have trouble putting the liner back in.Works good for me.
