softer shocks??

I have an imported 87 formula with the performance suspension option. I live in England & most of the roads I drive on are not that smooth and the ride can be very harsh.

Does anyone know of any shocks that I could change to that are suitable for this car that will make a noticeable improvement in ride quality -I'm looking for a slightly softer ride (but with nothing more than a minor effect on handling)

I'm not looking to spend a huge amount of money, but any help would be appreciated!!

thanks!
Andrew

Softer shocks really won't help. The f-bodies already have relatively soft shocks. The springs are what make the cars so unbearably stiff.

I have said it before, They handle like a train but ride like a dump truck. I found the biggest improvement was getting rid of the gas rear shocks and putting on GM factory hydralic shocks. Night and day difference in handleing and smoothness. I would go with a good quality front gas shock though. Maybe KYB or something.

Another suggestion might be to check your bushings. You may have worn out ones or poly bushings. Try to find new rubber ones like the ones that came from the factory.

thanks for all your suggestions -really useful! -I'm gonna check the bushings first and go from there and might consider the hydraulic shocks

Ive been living in Europe for a while, and just installed the custom valved shocks and struts from tpis.com. The differance on the tight an rough roads as well as at high speeds on the Autobahn is a million times better. I wish I had installed them earlier! Check out our F-Body Europe site and leave a post in the thirdgen forum if you are interested in joining.
